1. On the top right of the page, there is a 'Sign Up' link (in red); this is the place to start.
2. This pop-up window will show next: Create a new account either with your email, or through linking your account through facebook or twitter. Fill in the information in the contact, and account name window that pops up on your chosen account connection.
3. You will be notified by this pop-up window next.
4. Click the OK button, and go to your email to find the verification link. Once you have verified your email, you will receive this notice...
5. Go back to the Kitely webpage and log in with your new account. Once you are logged in
go back to the 'Explore Worlds' tab, and enter "Salishan" into the search box and hit enter. You will be brought to this page with my world information on it. If you click on the dark blue button marked 'Enter World', you can start to download the Phoenix-Firestorm program files.
6. You will find a pop-up window like this one below. Click on the 'Quick Start 1'. option, "Firestorm for OpenSim" to download the program.
7. Save the program file, and then (if you have a Mac like my computer), you will have to open it in the 'Applications' folder, right-click on the program name, and then 'Open' it from there. Otherwise, the program may not be recognized as a legal one and won't open.
8. This is the Firestorm window you get once your program has been installed.
9. The Firestorm window opens to the program, which is then waiting for you to log in. Enter your username or email, and password. Then you can type in 'Salishan' in the third box, and check down below to make sure the word 'Kitely' is in the Grid box (rather than Second Life, which may pop-up in there). Then log in, and you are in-world.
10. In world, may take a few moments to solidify. Until it does, you may get messages like this one:
Just tick the Do Not Play Media option. You can always change it later. (You will be the red fog that is trying to solidify...just wait for it).
When your computer has processed all the information, you will be a solid avatar (you can change the style of your avatar later). Your chosen name will appear above your head, and you will see my landing point in-world. You can use the arrow keys to turn your avatar's view left or right.
Or you can touch one of the menu option buttons on the bottom bar...the 'eye' is your camera rotation pop-up window shown on the bottom right here. The icon of the person walking, when clicked, will bring up the black pop-up window shown just above the camera pop-up above. These arrows will move your avatar just like the keyboard arrows; although, you now have more options...like running, or flying. Play with these for a bit to see what your avatar can do, and how you can change your viewpoint.
To send me a message, the easiest way is to click on the second top menu word "Land", and look for the 'owner', which will be highlighted in yellow. Click on my name, and a message option will show up.
